For RLAL to be the leading advocate in the Consumer and Commercial Leasing sector and a champion of the benefits to all industry stakeholders.

Our Mission

We will fulfil our responsibility to be a widely respected industry representative body, actively contributing to the industry’s continued improvement. To do this, we seek to represent a sector whose members have been clearly identified as trustworthy and responsible. RLAL will fiercely advocate on Members’ behalf, with all policies, protocols and actions earning the full trust and respect of government, regulators, and consumers.

Our Purpose

From humble beginnings over 80 years ago, the industry has now matured and there is a real need for a trusted association to represent the Consumer and Commercial Leasing sector. Responsible Leasing and Lending Australia was formed to fill this need. Our purpose is to support the industry along with Australian consumers and businesses.

For Members

We serve as an industry advocate, providing authoritative information on risk management, business tools, education and training, networking, and marketplace opportunities. We support all Members’ efforts to grow a successful and sustainable business through the introduction of training and professional development programs.

We position RLAL Members as trusted, reputable, and socially responsible lenders while representing our Members’ interests to government and regulatory bodies.

For Consumers

We will build an ethical reputation and position of trust with Australian consumers wherever they use our Member company services.

We will continue to build the industry’s reputation as a credible and trusted sector. Protecting consumer rights is one of RLAL’s governing principles.

For Government and Regulators

We will seek to influence industry standards and future legislation, securing a regulatory environment within which the industry is well-defined and properly regulated.

We also strive to make the wider industry recognise the importance of presenting a clear and united voice to government, enabling the sector to grow and prosper.
